Following the passing of Mooigezicht Estates Founder and Chairman Stephanus Rossouw in September, the Mooigezicht Estates board has appointed non-executive board member Kobie Bekker as the Chairman of the company’s Board.
Bekker served as a director of PricewaterhouseCoopers and its predecessor companies for 27 years and was appointed the national leader of Agribusinesses in 2004. Following his retirement in 2011, he has served as a director of several listed and unlisted South African companies. Bekker has been a director of Mooigezicht Estates for several years.
“Through my involvement with the company at production level and through accompanying the executive directors on travels to their international markets, I have gained a good understanding of the industry. It is both an honour and a privilege for me to serve as the Chairman of the Mooigezicht Estates board,” says Bekker.
“Bekker was the natural choice for us as the new Chairman of the Board and we are confident that he will be an astute chairman for our board,” says Mooigezicht Estates MD Francois Rossouw.
